Todd reeling after Johnson KO

Colin Todd has confirmed the club's fears over the injury suffered by Eddie Johnson.

Bradford manager Colin Todd has confirmed the club's worst fears, with the news key striker Eddie Johnson has suffered damaged ankle ligaments.

The summer signing from Crewe sustained the injury in Saturday's pre-season friendly defeat to Boston and Todd has confirmed the player will now miss the first month of the season.

Todd had earmarked the former Manchester United trainee to partner veteran Dean Windass in attack this season but his best laid plans have gone awry with the start of the new League One campaign less than two weeks away.

"This is a massive blow at this stage of the season for the lad and the club," Todd told the club's official website.

"I was looking for him to do well with Dean Windass, especially after all the hard work that he has put in. This will now be lost for a period.

"I was looking at bringing in another striker before this and we will now have to step-up the search."
