Stuart McCall says he will not endure a lengthy wait for Michael Boulding to decide on a move to Bradford City.
The Bantams are among a clutch of teams looking to sign Boulding, who is leaving Mansfield Town following the club's relegation from the Football League.
The striker is also wanted by Grimsby Town, Lincoln City and Rotherham United, and McCall understands Boulding's reasons for taking his time.
However, the Bradford manager has confirmed he is not prepared to miss out on other targets while Boulding considers his options.
"We've had a positive discussion with Michael, as have numerous clubs, which is his prerogative, and now he's taking a final break to think things over before making his mind up when pre-season starts," McCall told the Telegraph & Argus.
"It's understandable he doesn't want to rush because of the different options, but I've also told Michael that we've got to move on in our striker search in the meantime.
"We will be speaking to other centre-forwards now while he is away and if one jumps out at me then we will not hang about to make a decision.
"It's not that I'm saying no to him. I was pleased with how our discussions went and think we've got a chance.
"I've spoken to four different strikers anyway and plan to talk to a couple more next week. We are shopping around, just like Michael."
