Defender stepping up recovery from broken leg

Chesterfield have rewarded defender Gregor Robertson with a new one-year contract as he recovers from a broken leg. Robertson has been sidelined since last November after suffering the injury against Carlisle United in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and he is steadily working his way back towards full fitness. He has signed a 12-month extension to his deal with the League Two club and the 26-year-old has thanked Chesterfield for standing by him. "This is the worst injury of my career and I appreciate the support shown by the club," Robertson told the club's official website. "Although it has been a long haul to fully recover I hope to be able to get into some light training in time for the start of pre-season and am really looking forward to moving to the club's new stadium." The Spireites also confirmed that Jamie Lowry is close to signing a new deal, while the club are waiting on answer from Wade Small.
