Coventry winger extends contract at Ricoh Arena

Coventry winger Gary McSheffrey has signed a contract extension to keep him at the Ricoh Arena until 2013. McSheffrey started his career with the Sky Blues before joining Birmingham in 2006 and then returning to the Ricoh Arena last summer. The 29-year-old has established himself as a key player and manager Andy Thorn is delighted to have secured his services on a new long-term deal. "Gary, like me, is as committed to the club as all those fans that support the club from the stands," Thorn told Coventry's official website. "He's one of them and he loves Coventry City. It's been great to get some of the younger lads on longer-term contracts but we need experience here too and Gary has got that in abundance. "We are starting to see him get back to full match fitness and sharpness and we have all seen what he is capable of when that happens. "He's got a big part to play for us this season and it would be great to see him get back on the goal trail."
