The 22-year-old winger is a product of the Millmoor youth system and has already emerged as one of the South Yorkshire club's most prized assets.
As such Moore wanted to tie him down to a new deal, however, this now seems highly unlikely.
"We have made Chris an offer and there is a little room for negotiation but his agent is asking for a ridiculous deal," said Moore.
The youngster has just 12 months left on his current deal and the club may well be forced to sell in the near future, if a deal is not agreed.
Meanwhile, the club have confirmed that Finnish defender Peter Blomberg is on trial at the club.
The Narpes Kraft stopper had trials with Leicester in March, but is now hoping to earn a permanent deal with The Millers.
"He is here for us to have a look at him," Moore added.
