Mark Robins insists Rotherham United's valuation of Reuben Reid must be met before the striker is allowed to leave the club.
Reid has handed in a transfer request after his impressive debut season for the Millers saw the 20-year-old linked with a move up the Football League ladder.
He was wanted by several clubs in January and is reported to have been the recent subject of a £100,000 offer from League One side MK Dons.
However, Millers boss Robins is adamant that any suitors of the former Plymouth youngster will not be landing him on the cheap.
"Any club that comes in for him will have to match our valuation," said Robins in the Sheffield Star.
"We are not going to be giving someone away."
Meanwhile, Robins is hoping to add more new faces to his squad for next season after already bringing in Jamie Annerson, Kevin Ellison, Nicky Law and Tom Pope.
He added: "I wanted to get two or three in fairly quickly and had identified players I wanted.
"It doesn't mean that we are done. I am still looking to add to the squad. But there is no need to rush either.
"I'm happy to have done things early and now I'll be prepared to wait as well if necessary."
