Experienced Rotherham United man Paul Warne is hoping to tie down a regular spot in the side this campaign.
The 37-year-old, who can play as striker or in midfield, struggled to break into the Millers first-team last season after recovering from a broken leg.
However, the former Oldham and Yeovil playmaker has featured in five of Rotherham's opening seven League Two games and is eager to help the club push for promotion this term.
"I appreciate that I am 37 now, but I am still alive and kicking and eager to play football," Warne told
skysports.com.
"I still want to fight my way into the side, but last season was frustrating for me as I broke my leg and didn't really get over it until April, which is always a hard time to return when the boys were doing so well.
Confidence
"This year I have started quite well, with a few goals in the reserves as well, which always helps your confidence levels, and I've done reasonably well for the first-team when called upon too.
"I understand that I probably won't start 40 games per season any more, but I'm in shape to play when called upon still.
"I still have the hunger to play football, whether it be for the first-team, reserves or even a pub team, so I am no different in that respect to when I was a teenager.
"The boys did quite well in my absence last year, but we want to go one step further this time round and get this club out of League Two."
