Defender joins injury list after picking up groin strain

Richard Wood has joined Coventry City's growing injury list after being ruled out for six weeks with a groin strain. The defender picked up the injury during last weekend's 2-1 defeat at Preston North End and could struggle to play again this season. His injury leaves the Sky Blues short on numbers and has prompted the club to cut short Cyrus Christie's loan spell at non-league Hinckley. Caretaker boss Andy Thorn told the Coventry Telegraph: "He's gutted. He's been brilliant at centre-half and we've had to pull Cyrus Christie back from Hinckley (where he has been on loan)." In further bad news, experienced captain Lee Carsley has had to undergo another operation on his troublesome Achilles while it appears Ben Turner's longstanding knee problem looks set to rule him out until the summer. Midfielder Carl Baker has also rolled his ankle in training and is already a doubt for the club's first game back after the international break, at home to Watford on 2nd April. Martin Cranie (hamstring) is touch and go to make his return against the Hornets, while James McPake, Clive Platt, Gary Deegan, Isaac Osbourne and Danny Ireland all remain out.
