Scottish defender pens short-term deal at Bloomfield Road

Kirk Broadfoot has explained the thinking behind his decision to link up with Blackpool on a deal which is due to run until the end of the season. The Scotland international is among those to have arrived in English football after taking the decision to end their association with Rangers. The 28-year-old won three SPL titles during his time at Ibrox but the club's financial troubles and drop into the Scottish Third Division have forced him to look elsewhere. Blackpool are delighted to have been given the opportunity to add an experienced performer to their ranks as they chase promotion out of the Championship.

Blown away

Broadfoot believes he has made a wise choice in linking up with the Seasiders and admits charismatic boss Ian Holloway played a big part in luring him to Bloomfield Road. "Speaking with the manager, I was just blown away with him and his style of football," he told the club's official website. "People couldn't have spoken highly enough of the club so I think it was a good choice for me. "I think it's got something special about it, Blackpool. It just seems to have this aura about it that everyone seems to enjoy themselves here and I wanted to be part of that."
