Liverpool youngster Sergi Canos has extended his loan at Brentford until the end of the season.

The 18-year-old attacking-midfielder joined on an initial deal in August until December 31, and has scored twice in 16 appearances.

The clubs, who have an excellent relationship regarding youth loans, have now agreed a second deal that will go through when the transfer window opens on January 2 and run until May 2016.

Brentford head coach Dean Smith said: "I have been really pleased with Sergi and he has been progressing really well.

"Even though he is only 18-years-old, he has quite an old head on young shoulders. He wants to learn and he wants to get better. He is enjoying himself here and he gives us something that we haven't really got in terms of his direct running and enthusiasm.

"It is encouraging to have a player like Sergi here for the rest of the season."

Canos signed for Liverpool in 2013, having come through Barcelona academy, and signed professional youth terms at 17 last year.
