Double loan swoop for Chairboys

Wycombe have signed Gary Doherty and Paul Hayes on loan from League One rivals Charlton until the end of the season.

Defender Doherty has only featured six times for the Addicks this season and has not played in the league since August, while striker Hayes was a regular fixture in Chris Powell's side before the turn of the year but has only managed three goals in 20 appearances. The duo become Gary Waddock's third and fourth signings of the week following the arrivals of midfielders Craig Eastmond and Chris Hackett on Tuesday. Waddock told the club's official website: "Their experience and calibre speaks for itself. They've both played at a higher level and I'm sure they'll prove to be very good additions to the group." Doherty has played over 400 professional games for a number of clubs including Luton, Tottenham and Norwich, while Hayes has spent the majority of his career at Scunthorpe United, scoring 60 goals in 150 starts during two separate spells for the Iron. Both players could make their debuts at home to Hartlepool on Saturday.
