Barnet have taken up their option of extending Sam Muggleton's contract until the end of next season.

The young defender has made 32 appearances since joining the Bees on a permanent deal in the summer of 2014.

"Sam has done extremely well and has made a massive improvement," Barnet boss Martin Allen told the club's official website.

"He has only just turned 20 years old.

"My phone doesn't stop ringing, from clubs looking to take him on loan.

"He scored a hat-trick last week in a reserve match and changed the game at half-time when he came on against QPR.

"There is still a lot for him to work on, but he is moving in the right direction."

Meanwhile, Ben Tomlinson has joined Barrow on loan for the coming month.

The move follows the forward's loan spells with Grimsby Town and Tranmere Rovers earlier this season.

Justin Nwogu and Charlie Kennedy have also joined Hayes & Yeading on short-term loans.
