Nicky Featherstone has become the latest Hartlepool player to sign a new contract with the club.

The midfielder has been one of the mainstays in the side under Craig Hignett, helping Pools preserve their League Two status. Only Jake Carroll has made more starts in the league this season than the 27-year-old.

Featherstone follows goalkeepers Adam Bartlett and Trevor Carson, defender Josh Nearney, midfielder Lewis Hawkins and young winger Jack Blackford in putting pen to paper on a fresh deal at Victoria Park.

"Nicky has been fantastic," Hignett told the club's official website, which did not reveal the length of Featherstone's deal.

"He's really taken to the way we're trying to play and the performances he's put in have been top drawer so I am delighted he's signed.
