Stevenage have splashed out a five-figure fee to sign striker Rowan Liburd from Reading.
The 23-year-old joined Reading from Billericay Town in July 2015 and made three substitute senior appearances.
Liburd, who scored 11 goals in 14 games for the Royals' Under-21 side last term, knows Sky Bet League Two from his loan spell at Wycombe earlier this year.
Stevenage chairman Phil Wallace told the club's official website: "We are determined to add strikers to the backbone of the side that finished strongly defensively last season.
"Rowan is an exceptional athlete and a big lad, but the step from non-league to the Championship is a huge jump for an inexperienced young player.
"He'll need time to evolve but we've invested because we hope he can make a significant contribution to us this year."
