Hartlepool have signed Middlesbrough striker Bradley Fewster on loan until the end of December, the clubs have announced.

The move reunites the 22-year-old with Pools boss Craig Hignett, who was his coach at under-13s level at Boro.

Fewster scored eight goals in 24 appearances during a loan spell with York last season as well as weighing in with nine for Boro's under-21s.

Hignett told the Hartlepool website: "I have known Brad since he was 12 really. I know what he's all about and I knew when he went to York last season that he would do well and score some goals.

"He's a finisher who comes alive in the box. His movement is good and he's a bit different from the other options we have in the squad so I'm delighted to get him."

Pools have also brought in Newcastle forward Tom Heardman on a half-season loan.

The 20-year-old, who has progressed through the youth ranks at St James' Park, impressed manager Hignett during training last week.

Hignett said: "I'm really pleased that Tom is coming in to the club.

"He's come back to fitness in good form and has scored a few goals for Newcastle's reserve side this season so we want him to come here and kick-on.

"He's a big lad who can put himself about and he's something a little bit different to the other forwards we have in the squad at the moment.

"Both Tom and Brad who have joined on loan are really hungry to prove themselves and that's one of the big qualities I look for in players."
