Speaking with skysports.com, Morecambe manager Sammy McIlroy has issued a 'hands off' warning to any clubs interested in signing Gary Thompson.
The winger played an integral part in the Shrimps' promotion to League Two last term and has been a regular in the side this year contributing four league goals so far.
However, the tricky midfielder has recently been the subject of a £10,000 bid from struggling Bradford City which former Macclesfield boss McIlroy laughed off:
"For a player like Gary, that kind of money is a joke, it wouldn't even take him on a night out," McIlroy told skysports.com.
"I don't even class it as a bid. I stay out of these situations, but as far as I am concerned, the offer was way, way short of the valuation of the boy.
"He's definitely one of my key players and definitely not someone that I want to see leave the club."
Elsewhere, McIlroy told skysports.com that it he is still looking to strengthen his squad and it is understood he is in talks with Peterborough goalkeeper Shwan Jalal.
"We've been talking to Shwan and once Joe Lewis left me to return to Norwich we had to act very fast," he said.
"Aidy Boothroyd and Alec Chaimberlain at Watford were kind enough to let me have Scott Loach on loan but I want Morecambe to have their own goalkeeper, that's my aim.
"I'd like to think we will see Jalal in a Morecambe shirt, but so far I haven't heard anything. I stay out of negotiations, they're up to our vice-chairman but hopefully he will be on the books soon."
