Stockport County remain confident of concluding a deal to bring winger Kevin Ellison back to Edgeley Park.
Last weekend Stockport agreed terms with League Two rivals Chester City to sign Ellison on loan with a view to a permanent move in the summer.
But the switch hit a snag when Chester revealed the deal was 'in question due to objections raised by the player'.
Speaking after a 3-2 win over Bury on Tuesday evening, though, Stockport boss Jim Gannon expressed his belief that Ellison still wants to rejoin the club.
"I've spoken to Kevin and, although he's got some contractual issues to sort out at Chester, he's happy enough to come," Gannon told the club's official website.
"And I'm sure he'll be looking at our result and thinking he can't wait to be a part of this journey that we're going on."
Chester are happy to leave a decision in Ellison's hands, with club owner Stephen Vaughan saying: "All we want is a yes or a no. We had agreed the details with Stockport, as had Kevin, so now all we want is a resolution to the proposed move one way or the other.
"If Kevin wants to stay with us then that would be positive news, but if he decides to go to Edgeley Park, he would go with our best wishes. All we want is a decision and I don't think that's too much to ask."
