Former Manchester United striker Phil Marsh is training with League Two side Bury this week in a bid to impress manager Alan Knill.
The 21-year-old made just one first-team appearance for the Reds in a Carling Cup tie, before being released and was signed by Blackpool last summer.
He scored regularly for the reserves at Bloomfield Road but his season was interrupted by a number of injuries including a fractured ankle in March, which kept him out for the remainder of the season.
After getting the all clear from the doctors in May, Marsh has been getting himself back to full fitness with the aid of the Blackpool physio and now looks to restart his career - hopefully with The Shakers.
Fresh start
"Last season was frustrating at Blackpool, I was starting to fly and score regularly in the reserves and the gaffer was looking to bring me into the first-team squad," the striker told
skysports.com.
"But I got a knock that kept me out for a few weeks. I came back just after Christmas and was starting to find the back of the net again, then I fractured my ankle and that was that.
"My agent set up this trial and I'll be looking to impress the manager this week. Bury were the form team in League Two at the end of last season and with some impressive summer signings seem intent on making a go of getting out of this division.
"I hope I can be a part of the squad and show my potential on the pitch after a frustrating year."
