Barnet boss keen to keep skipper but five players leave club

Barnet manager Ian Hendon is 'quietly confident' captain Neal Bishop will remain at the club while five players are to be released from their contracts. Bishop's future at Underhill has been in doubt of late, with rumours suggesting the midfielder is keen to return to the north of England. However, Hendon, who was recently confirmed as Barnet's new permanent boss, is hopeful Bishop will stay with the League Two club. Hendon said on the club's official website: "I am quietly confident that he will stay." Meanwhile, Hendon has revealed that Adam Birchall, Michael Leary, Nicky Nicolau, Ran Kadoch and Max Porter are to leave the club. Hendon said: "Releasing players is not a pleasant job but the sole aim is to take Barnet FC forward. "Perhaps it is time for a change for both club and players. I would like to thank them for their contributions in their time with us."
