Rochdale have completed the signing of Jason Kennedy from Darlington.
The former Middlesbrough midfielder has left the troubled Quakers and penned a two-year deal with Dale.
Skysports.com revealed on Wednesday that Kennedy was unhappy at Darlington's administrators delaying the move - but now the transfer has been finalised.
And Dale boss Keith Hill was delighted to have landed Kennedy.
"There has been a tremendous amount of effort in the negotiations but it has come to fruition with an excellent signing," he said.
"We have been very impressed with Jason's attitude towards the move and he sees us as a progressive and stable club.
"He has had offers from other clubs and could have hung on for longer but wanted to get the mental side of things settled and to prepare himself for a big season next time around.
"As I said earlier we have a strict wage structure that we have to work within and this does not go outside that but it is a way of showing our intent.
"Jason is a very good football player, he is the right age, has a wonderful attitude and will give us great competition for places in a key area of the field."
