Carlisle United have reluctantly accepted the written transfer request of midfielder Cleveland Taylor.
The winger, who joined from Scunthorpe United last year, goes onto the club's transfer list citing personal problems as his motive for a move.
Cleveland held discussions with the board before having his request accepted, which Managing Director John Nixon revealed on Wednesday.
"We have held discussions with Cleveland Taylor over the course of the past few weeks, but we have reluctantly agreed to his request this morning," Nixon told the club's
official website.
"What we will do now is circulate his name around the other clubs in the Football League to make them aware that he is available.
"Obviously we paid a fee to secure his services, with additional bonus payments attached, so we would be looking to at least recoup that before we can allow him to move on."
Privacy
The 25-year-old Jamaican does not wish for his personal reasons to be made public for which Carlisle boss Greg Abbott fully appreciates.
"I think it probably goes without saying that it came as a big shock to me when he handed the request in," said Abbott.
"However, it is for personal reasons and Cleveland has asked that those reasons remain private just for the moment.
"I was very, very reluctant to agree to the request, because people know how highly I regard Cleveland.
"I've explained on numerous occasions the positive effect that he has in the dressing room, because he has an infectious enthusiasm for the game and he is a terrific character, as well as being a very good footballer.
"I understand the reasons he has for making the request, but I do feel that it should be up to Cleveland as to when he chooses to discuss it, if he chooses to do so at all.
"When he is good and ready I would hope that he would feel that he is in a position to explain the reasons behind his decision, but he would prefer it to remain private at the moment.
"At his request we have all agreed not to discuss his reasons any further, and I think it's only right and proper for us to respect that."
