League One new boys eye triple swoop

League One newcomers Brentford are close to bringing in Dagenham & Redbridge trio Sam Saunders, Danny Foster and Ben Strevens. All three are out of contract at Victoria Road and despite offers from the club to stay look set to join Andy Scott's side. Winger Saunders told skysports.com that his move should be completed sooner rather than later. "Nothing has been signed yet, but we aren't far away from concluding things," said Saunders. "The talks are at a very advanced stage and I've already completed a medical, so it should be happening sooner rather than later. "Every player wants to play at the highest level possible and with my contract expiring it felt like the right time for me to see if I can compete at League One. "It was gutting to miss out on the play-offs last season at Dagenham, which would have given me the opportunity to play at League One possibly, but this offer was just too good to turn down really for my career."

Triple deal

Saunders' team-mates Strevens and Foster look set to follow the former QPR trainee to Griffin Park and he hopes this will bode well for the Bees as they aim to establish themselves in League One next season. "It looks like all three of us are going there, which is good news for us because we know each others' games very well, but I already know a couple of the lads at Brentford, like Charlie MacDonald and Sam Wood so it was never going to be a problem settling there. "It is obviously good for everyone if the players know each others game inside and out and that is what Brentford are getting by signing all three of us. "Hopefully we can take that into pre-season and hit the ground running when the big kick-off comes around."
