Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Simpson has ruled out the possibility of West Brom goalkeeper Luke Daniels returning to the Prostar Stadium.
However, the former Preston boss has identified a new shot-stopper as his top priority this summer, with just one recognised keeper, Glynn Garner, on the club's books.
Daniels impressed at the back end of last season for Shrewsbury, none more so than in the play-off's when his outstanding display secured their passage into the final, but Simpson has told skysports.com that he cannot afford to wait for the situation at the Hawthorns to be resolved before bringing in a new keeper.
"They've had a lot of changes at West Brom over the past month or so and I think it will all depend on the new manager as to whether Luke will be available for loan again," Simpson told skysports.com.
"That's not really an avenue I'm looking to go down at the moment because there are too many ifs and buts.
"My top priority this summer is definitely to get a couple of goalkeepers in. I'm looking to bring a young pro in to take on the development role in the keepers' department and then another senior keeper to challenge Glyn Garner for the number one spot."
The Shrews missed out on promotion to League One after a last-gasp header from Simeon Jackson sent Gillingham into the third-tier of English football instead, but Simpson is confident that there will not be a hangover from that setback when the new season gets underway.
"In football you have to deal with the knocks and we had a big one at Wembley, but if the players are as strong as I think they are then they will use that as a positive and motivation to go one step further this season."
