Striker earns contract after impressive trial spell

Torquay United have agreed a deal to sign Ben Joyce after the teenage striker impressed on trial. Joyce is available on a free transfer after being released by League One side Swindon Town at the end of last season. He impressed in a friendly against Buckland Athletic earlier this week and has now secured a contract from Gulls boss Paul Buckle. "Ben has been with us a very short time, but he has done a great deal to impress me both in the Buckland game and in training," Buckle told the club's official website. "Technically he is very good and he showed against Buckland that he has an eye for goal. "Ben is a very good signing for the club because he has the ability to force his way into the team now and is an excellent prospect for the future."
