Dobson is available on a free transfer following the expiration of his short-term deal at Brentford.
The 25-year-old has now linked up with Shrewsbury in a bid to win a move to the League Two club.
Shrews boss Paul Simpson is keen to bolster his squad ahead of the new season and he will cast an eye over Dobson in training before deciding whether or not to pursue his interest in the player.
