Notts County have made their first capture of the Sven Goran Eriksson era after Lee Hughes performed a U-turn and signed a two-year contract.
Eriksson was presented as the Magpies' new director of football at a press conference on Wednesday and he has been joined at Meadow Lane by Hughes.
The veteran striker had been available on a free transfer after turning down a new deal at Oldham Athletic, but appeared to have failed to reach an agreement with the Magpies.
However, he has now accepted an offer from the League Two club, much to the delight of County boss Ian McParland.
"It has been a long time coming, but we're delighted Lee has signed for Notts County," McParland told the club's official website.
"He is a goalscorer, he's experienced and he fits the bill for what we need at Meadow Lane.
"To attract a player of Lee's calibre is another major coup for us and, following on from yesterday's signing of Luke Rodgers, I am really pleased we've managed to get Lee signed up."
