Arnison and Bower offered deals as James and Starosta depart

Darlington boss Colin Todd has offered deals to Paul Arnison and Mark Bower, while Craig James and Ben Starosta have been told they can leave. Todd is rebuilding the Quakers' squad ahead of the new season and while deals have been offered to the duo, they are unable to officially sign until the club exits administration. The full-backs, who were released by Bradford City in the summer, impressed during Wednesday night's 0-0 draw with Scottish Premier League side Hamilton. Their performances have persuaded Todd to allow James and Starosta, who were only unveiled as new arrivals by the club in recent weeks, to move on. "I have made decisions on Ben and Craig," Todd told the Northern Echo. "But Bower and Arnison will be signed on which strengthens us, we have seen that. Bower and Arnison did extremely well."

Honest

Todd also confirmed that trialist striker Nick Chadwick, who was given an opportunity to impress against Hamilton, will not be joining the club. And the Darlo boss hit out at suggestions from the club's administrators that they may not be back on an even keel by the time the new season kicks off on 8th August. He added: "We can't be in admin by the time the season starts. We can't alarm people and put things in people's minds that are not right. "We are all confident, but there has always been people who are negative. It's the wrong thing to say. I'm just being honest. "I have said to them that we are vulnerable with scouts because the players are not signed on yet. But we could have something going here. We have agreed things with them all."
