Right-back signs two-year deal

Aldershot have signed defender Ben Herd on a two-year deal after he was released by Shrewsbury. Herd is an attacking right-back who began his career as a trainee with local side Watford. But he was released in the summer of 2005 without making a first-team appearance at Vicarage Road and subsequently signed for Shrewsbury. But he then fell out of favour under Paul Simpson at the end of last season and was allowed to leave in May. He has now made the switch to Aldershot as boss Gary Waddock prepares his squad for the start of the new League Two season.
