New deals for Cobblers duo

Northampton Town duo Craig Hinton and Dean Beckwith have signed new contracts at Sixfields.

Gilbert to also be offered fresh contract

Northampton Town duo Craig Hinton and Dean Beckwith have signed new contracts, while Peter Gilbert has been offered a fresh deal. Hinton and Beckwith joined on one-year deals following their moves from Bristol Rovers and Hereford respectively last summer. But, after making the required number of appearances, clauses have been activated to keep them under contract at Sixfields for the 2010/2011 season. Beckwith played in his 30th League Two fixture for the Cobblers in Saturday's 2-0 win over Morecambe, while Hinton appeared for the 40th time for the club in the same game. Cobblers boss Ian Sampson is now hoping to follow up the new deals for Hinton and Beckwith by securing fellow defender Gilbert to extended terms at Sixfields. "Peter has been offered a contract and Dean and Craig both had clauses in their contracts which have been activated," Sampson told the Chronicle & Echo. "They aren't clauses I put in, the previous manager here did that, but I'm quite happy to have them on board. "The defence is superb at the moment and we've got a nice little unit there now."
