Fractured and dislocated thumb leads to operation

Morecambe midfielder Stewart Drummond has undergone an operation after dislocating his thumb in last weekend's 1-0 home win over Dagenham. The operation was necessary after it became apparent that the injury was worse than expected. Physio Simon Farnworth said: "Stewart both fractured and dislocated his thumb and he has had to have an operation. "It was quite strange because he didn't really know when he did it which is a surprise as it must have been really painful." Drummond returned to Morecambe in January 2008 after starting his professional career at the club in 1994.
