The day is getting nearer. I'm all set to embark on what is my second World Cup adventure. I was lucky enough to be in Germany four years ago and after a great experience then, I'm really excited about going this time around.
There was a special atmosphere around the World Cup last time around. Football took over the country of Germany four years ago, and it was incredible to be over there to experience that.
Having never been to one before, I was expecting a lot of buzz surrounding the big games, and of course those involving the home nation, but World Cup fever was everywhere. And football is also an obsession in South Africa. So I'm sure it will be a similar experience in 2010.
It's one huge party for 31 days, you simply cannot beat it. The beautiful game brings people together. You find yourself meeting and talking to people you'd never have imagined yourself speaking to and enjoying the carnival atmosphere that is created by an eclectic mix of people all together with one common passion, football.
For me, the World Cup is the greatest event on the planet. I can't think of any other event which brings people together from all four corners of the globe.
This year, I'll be out there for the group phase of the tournament, and should England make it, I'll be back out for the final as well! Call me a glory hunter if you will! I've been saving up since the last one (fortunately not having the expense of the European Championships in 2008!) so I really can't wait.
Last time around, we didn't manage to get to many matches. This time, it's been a little easier to get hold of tickets, so as well as soaking up the unique atmosphere in the streets, I'll be at 7 matches to get the buzz inside the stadia too.
As a Tranmere fan, it will be an absolute pleasure to be watching some of the greatest footballers on the planet. No offence to Paul McLaren, but you're no Kaka. I'll be taking in Brazil v North Korea, Spain v Honduras, Serbia v Ghana and Holland v Denmark as well as supporting the three lions in all three of their group matches.
Of course, as a staunch England fan, I'll be hoping for an England victory. Come on boys, let's be having you! Before I start to sound too much like Delia Smith, I better finish there. South Africa, I am coming!
