Doncaster Rovers have confirmed the signing of young midfielder Josh Payne on an initial six-month contract.
The 19-year-old, who was released by West Ham at the end of last season, impressed while on trial at the Keepmoat, featuring in pre-season friendlies against Askern Villa, Quorn, Barnstaple Town and Havant & Waterlooville.
Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll is thrilled to have completed the capture of the young playmaker.
"We have watched him two or three times when he was at West Ham, and we just liked him," O'Driscoll told the club's official website.
"When he was released we asked him up here to train with us. We like his attitude and feel he could be a player we could develop."
Payne, who began his career with Portsmouth and Southampton before moving to Upton Park, says he turned down interest from other clubs in favour of signing with the Rovers.
"I'm really pleased to sign for Doncaster after playing in quite a few of the pre-season games," said Payne.
"There were one or two other clubs interested in me but Doncaster were the only one I was happy to sign for as they play the type of football I like to be involved in."
