Stockport County's on-loan forward George Donnelly believes his new strike partnership with Barry Conlon is bringing the best out of his game.
The 22-year-old, who joined on a six-month loan deal from Plymouth over the summer, scored his second goal in three games after netting a consolation in the Hatters' 3-1 defeat at Stevenage on Saturday.
And despite Stockport's stuttering start to the new season former Liverpool trainee Donnelly believes that linking up with target man Conlon could help him become a better player.
"We have made a real effort in training to get to understand each other's game and it is definitely progressing each week as we get more used to each other," Donnelly told skysports.com.
"Baz is just the sort of centre-forward that I need to help me improve and I reckon we could help get the best out of each other this season."
The Hatters suffered relegation from League One last season after finishing bottom of the table with just 25 points to their name, but Donnelly is confident that the club can rebuild this year and restore some pride.
He added: "I think that we can finish in the top half of the division because we certainly have some good quality in the squad.
"You never know, with a couple of additions we could even push for a play-off position, but it is just important that we give the fans something good to shout about because they had a real tough time last season."
