Shrewsbury Town's loan star Mark Wright is hoping to bring some festive cheer by helping to continue the team's impressive recent form through December.
The 28-year-old, on loan from Bristol Rovers, has scored four goals in his last two games, helping the Shrews extend their run of just one defeat in six matches.
However, with a sequence of five fixtures in the space of three weeks, Wright believes the Shrews may need to ditch their brand of passing football to scrap for the valuable points on offer over the Christmas period.
"The festive period is always one of the toughest periods of a season due to the amount of games you play in and around Christmas," Wright told skysports.com.
"You just need to dig in and fight for as many points as you can get because the pitches get harder and make it difficult to play good football on.
"If you can grind out results when you are not doing well then it can only help your tally at the end of the season."
The Shrews are in an excellent position to push for promotion this season, with just five points separating the top five in League Two and Wright is upbeat over their chances of securing promotion.
He added: "I think that we have got a good enough squad to go up this year and I've been promoted out of this division twice before in my career.
"I don't see why we can't gain promotion this season because we are in a good position at the moment and we just need to keep plugging away and winning as many points as possible."
