Winger eager to make up for missing out on promotion this season

Mark Wright has called on Shrewsbury Town to mount a serious challenge for automatic promotion again next season after tasting defeat in the play-offs this year. The Shrews fell at the first hurdle of the play-offs after a 2-0 aggregate defeat to Torquay, having earlier missed out on a top-three spot in League Two by a single point. However, with their wounds still fresh from last week's second-leg against Torquay, former Bristol Rovers winger Wrights says that no-one wants to experience the feelings they have suffered again next year. "It is obviously a massive blow to fall at the first hurdle of the play-offs because our aim all season has been to gain promotion, so to miss out on automatic promotion and then not progress through to the final of the play-offs was hugely disappointing," Wright told skysports.com. "All you can do after suffering defeat in the play-offs is refocus and go again next season because we have the experience of being hurt from the play-offs and you just don't want to feel like that again two months on. "We let ourselves down in the first leg down at Torquay and it cost us in the end, but we need to learn our lesson from that game and turn it into a positive for next season."
