Morris praises Gulls chairman

Winger Ian Morris has applauded chairman Simon Baker for not heaping too much pressure on the Torquay team this season.

After the successes of last term, where the Gulls made it to the League Two play-off final before losing out to Stevenage, Baker - like the fans - could have been forgiven for expecting too much this time around. But Morris revealed the Plainmoor chief has done well to keep the competitive spirit running high at the Devon club without overwhelming the players with that burden of expectation. "The chairman has done well in playing last year's success down," Morris said. "The fans will be expecting it but they've seen in the last month what we are capable of and we've felt that. "We are all going in the same direction and taking the club forward and hopefully we can push into that top 10 and higher up the league as the season goes on."
