Accrington boss John Coleman hailed Bryan Hughes after the midfielder was named League Two Player of the Month for December.
The 35-year-old was in sparkling form over the festive period, scoring twice as Stanley took 10 points from a possible 12. "He's been smashing for us since he came. The lads have responded to him and he's responded to the lads," Accrington boss John Coleman told the Football League website. "He's been out of football for a while. But he's worked hard on his fitness and trained with us for a period before he signed. "As he's got fitter, he's got better. He's a top footballer."
