McGhee makes mark on Pirates

Matt Gill has revealed new Bristol Rovers manager Mark McGhee has restored confidence to the beleaguered club.

McGhee took over at the Memorial Stadium following the dismissal of former boss Paul Buckle last month with Rover languishing towards the foot of npower League Two. But two games and two wins later, the outlook is a little brighter around the Pirates, and midfielder Gill credited the current manager for his influence on the mood in the dressing room. "The new manager has come in and maybe given a few of those who weren't getting the chance under the last manager a go and it seems there's a lot more confidence around the place now," he said. "That little bit of belief has come back into the team. "For the first couple of games after the last gaffer had gone Shaun North was in charge and we got a good win at Hereford and a draw with Crawley, so you have to remember that this run started when Shaun was in charge. "The new gaffer has added a few bits and pieces and he's obviously got the experience. He's given a little bit of know-how and we're starting to show what we can do."
