Turner irked by sloppy goal

Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner was frustrated by the goal his team conceded in their 1-0 defeat at Torquay on Saturday.

Gulls centre-back Mark Ellis seemed to get the final touch to help recalled target man Taiwo Atieno's 68th-minute goalbound header over the line. But Turner was left fuming at what he called a defensive "shambles" in the League Two encounter at Plainmoor. "It was a big disappointment. I thought the goal was messy, we should have done better defending the corner," he said. "Second half we had a lot of ball without looking convincing. "The goal was a shambles. People have got their jobs to do, they are assigned people to mark and we have got one player who has lost his man and it was bit of a shambles when the ball came back into the middle. "We should have cleared it, we had plenty of opportunity to have done that but from our point of view it's a really messy goal - and that makes it doubly disappointing."
