Stam set for Bulls return

Image: Stam: Back in action

Fit-again Stefan Stam will get vital match practice for Hereford's second string in a friendly against Walsall on Tuesday.

The Dutch defender has been troubled by knee injuries this season but made his first appearance for seven weeks when he came on as an 88th-minute substitute to help preserve the Bulls' 1-0 lead at Morecambe on Saturday. Stam now desperately needs to get minutes under his belt in order to play a role in Hereford's battle for Football League survival over the remaining 10 games of the campaign. "It (the knee) feels good," Stam told the club's official website. The 32-year-old could find himself heavily involved in the season run-in should Byron Anthony's loan stay, which expires after this weekend's visit of Southend, not be extended.
