Atkinson returns to Terriers

Midfielder Chris Atkinson has returned to parent-club Huddersfield following his loan spell at Chesterfield.

Atkinson's two-month stint at the Proact Stadium ended following the Spireites' 1-0 win at Plymouth on Saturday, and injury problems at Huddersfield have scuppered any chance of the League Two side extending the midfielder's stay. The Terriers are light in the middle of the park after they had Keith Southern sent off at the weekend and saw Adam Clayton collect his fifth yellow card of the season, earning three and one-match suspensions respectively. Atkinson scored five goals in 14 games for Chesterfield, netting the winner in the games against Aldershot, Exeter and Oxford and the Spireites won every game in which the 20-year-old was on the scoresheet.
