Dean delighted for his players

Aldershot manager Dean Holdsworth was delighted for his players as they silenced their critics against Rochdale on Saturday.

The Shots hosted Dale having not won at the EBB Stadium since beating Barnet 1-0 on September 18, and having only scored three goals there all season. But all that changed as goals from Dani Lopez, Peter Vincenti, Danny Rose and Craig Reid cancelled out an Ashley Grimes double for Rochdale, leaving Holdsworth grinning from ear to ear. "It was fantastic for the players - four goals, four different goalscorers," he said. "We could have had a couple more as well. I'm delighted for the players; they've worked extremely hard and taken a lot of criticism. "We scored at good times. Their first goal almost made us angry, and we got a great reaction from the players." Holdsworth also admitted the club were in shock after it was confirmed that midfielder Josh Payne had been imprisoned. "It's early stages as to what will happen with Josh Payne," he said. "The club will make a statement in the next few days. "As a manager and a person I'm upset at what's happened, I love the lad. He's had this hanging over his head for a long time. "The players love him, it's a shock for everybody. I told the players that if they're going to do anything then Josh is part of it - he's part of us. Our thoughts are with is family, and we've just got to get on with our jobs."
