Ling looking over his shoulder

Torquay manager Martin Ling claimed his side had a "death wish" after Burton came from behind to snatch a 2-1 win.

Burton boss Gary Rowett saw superb strikes from Calvin Zola and substitute Matt Paterson helped him celebrate his December manager of the month award in style after Ryan Jarvis had given the visitors a deserved lead in the first half. But Gulls boss Ling said: "I think the better side got beat on the day if I'm totally honest. "We seem to have some sort of death wish at the moment because we seem to find a way to lose from any situation. "We had our noses and front and looked in control, but then conceded a sloppy goal that gave them the springboard to attack. "The second goal you can't legislate for because it was just a great finish. "We had chances second half as well as the first, so it's all very frustrating." And the Gulls boss warned his men they have to quickly find a way to halt their slide down the League Two table. "Last season we found a way to win games, but at this moment in time we just seem to be finding a way to lose games," he said. "It's not a nice situation to be in because instead of talking about the play-offs we could end up looking over our shoulders at the relegation fight."
