Molyneux back at Stanley

Accrington have brought Lee Molyneux back to the club on loan from League One outfit Crewe.

The midfielder, who was voted player of the year at Stanley last season during a campaign in which he scored nine times, has joined the League Two for an initial period of one month. Molyneux has struggled to nail down a regular place in the Alex's first team and recently spent time on loan at Rochdale. "It feels like coming home," the 24-year-old said. "I had a great time here last year and it was a hard decision to leave but the opportunity to go up a level was the deciding factor otherwise I would have stayed. "They were special times for me last year - I hope that we can recreate them this season. I've trained this morning (Thursday) with the lads and I believe there's more quality in the squad now as a whole than last season." Boss James Beattie may not have been in charge when Molyneux was at the club but he knows the impact the midfielder had on preserving their Football League status at the end of last year. "We're delighted to have Lee back," he said. "He was a massive part in the success we had in staying up last year and had a huge influence on the end of the season. "For one reason or another it's not quite clicked at Crewe for him, so he's been invited back here and hopefully he can get some minutes on the pitch and influence our end to the season - like he did last time. "He looks in great shape and has looked sharp in training. He's delighted to be back and him being here has given the lads a huge lift."
