Wayne Burnett praised his Dagenham players for their resilience as they battled to a 1-1 draw at Burton after being reduced to 10 men.
After Lawson D'Ath had fired the Daggers in front, teenage full-back Jack Connors was sent off in the 55th minute for his second yellow card of the afternoon - both for fouls on pacy winger Zeli Ismail. Substitute Billy Kee duly stepped off the bench to grab an equaliser for Albion before Robbie Weir came closest to all three points when he hit the woodwork in injury time. Burnett said: "It was a very, very tough game in the end but my players showed fantastic character and a never-say-die attitude. "I felt we were in control and scored a very, very good goal, but the sending-off changed the game." Burnett added: "I thought we were more than a match for them 11 v 11, but the referee felt he had no choice but to send Jack off and that changed the complexion of the game. "He's a young boy playing at left-back and he's done fantastically well since stepping up from the youth team "Jack made a tackle and showed a bit of naivety by putting his hand on head as if to say 'I've made a mistake and you can send me off'. "Gary Rowett has done a fantastic job at Burton. He's got some very good football players and we knew it was going to be tough, so to get a point with 10 men is no mean achievement."
