Strachan, 25, has been impressive for 'Pool this term, and has netted five league goals for the club following his release from Coventry City in the summer.
"It's great that Gavin has signed this new deal," manager Neale Cooper (pictured) told the club's official website.
"He has shown what a good player he is so far this season and I still think there is more to come from him.
"I've said that players who do well will be rewarded and Gavin falls in to that category because his form has been excellent."
Goalkeeper Provett has also penned a new long-term deal with the Victoria Park side.
The 21-year-old only established himself as first-choice in the second game of the season in the Carling Cup against Sheffield Wednesday.
However, since displacing Anthony Williams, the young custodian has turned in a string of consistent performances leading Cooper to reward him with an improved contract.
"It's great news," Cooper continued. "Jim's done ever so well this season and we want his future to be with Hartlepool United."
Meanwhile, striker Adam Boyd has returned to Pools after his loan spell at Boston expired.
The hit-man managed three goals in ten games during his stint at York Street.
