Injury has forced Stockport County to send back Darrell Clarke to Hartlepool United.Stockport County have been forced to send back loanee Darrell Clarke to parent club Hartlepool United.
The former Mansfield Town player had only joined the League One bottom club on loan last week before making his debut against Luton Town on Saturday.
However, the 27-year-old was forced to come off half an hour into the 3-0 defeat at Kenilworth Road with a suspected cartilage tear in his right knee.
Clarke is expected to be sidelined for up to a month with the knee injury, meaning he will miss the remainder of his loan spell at Edgeley Park.
"Darrell has returned to Hartlepool to see a specialist and we don't envisage him being able to stay for his loan spell," said Stockport manager Chris Turner.
"It looks like a cartilage injury which can go at any time.
"It is unlucky, but it can happen to any player."
Meanwhile, fellow recent signing Keith Briggs says he may receive a more permanent deal with his old club, should he impress Turner.
The 23-year-old re-signed with The Hatters on non-contract terms last Friday after being released by Premiership side Norwich City last month.
Briggs is hoping his return to Stockport can earn him a proper deal in the near future.
"He's told it me straight down the line and said there could be something for me on a permanent deal," Briggs told the Manchester Evening News.
"Stockport is a big part of me. I've been here since I was a kid and it's close to home and back up north."
