League Two Round-Up

Darlington, Chester, Swindon, Torquay and Walsall all maintained their perfect records.

Darlington, Chester City, Swindon Town, Torquay United and Walsall all maintained their perfect records in League Two, recording their second straight wins of the season on Tuesday night.

Accrington Stanley's dreams of a victory in their first home Football League game for 44 years were dashed after an early Michael Cummins goal for the visitors on 33 minutes.

Darlington hammered Macclesfield Town 4-0 at the weekend, and Martin Smith doubled the lead and sealed the 2-0 victory for his team as it turned out on 43 minutes.

Mark Wright's Chester capitalised on their victory over the League Two newcomers at the weekend with a 3-1 win over Bury at Gigg Lane.

An own goal from Colin Woodthorpe put City ahead, before Jon-Paul Pittman equalised for Bury.

Jonathan Walters then restored City's advantage to make it 2-1 on 49 minutes and doubled his tally to seal a good away victory 3-1 just before the final whistle.

Swindon left it late before beating Barnet 2-1.

Nick Bailey grabbed an early goal for Barnet at the County Ground before Ricky Shakes equalised for Swindon just after half time and Royce Brownlie grabbed a 92nd minute winner for the hosts.

The result leaves Barnet still yet to pick up a point from either of their first two games after losing at home to Torquay on Saturday.

A late Lee Mansell goal on 87 minutes at Plainmoor gave Torquay the victory to continue their fine form, as they ran out 1-0 winners over Rochdale.

Walsall took their league tally to six points with a 2-0 victory over struggling Stockport County.

Martin Butler grabbed the game's opening goal on 16 minutes and Ian Roper secured the victory at the Bescot Stadium on 48 minutes.

Wrexham continued their revival after coming out of administration with a comfortable 3-0 win over Grimsby.

First half goals from Steve Evans and Chris Llewellyn put The Dragons 2-0 up going into the interval and a Matt Done strike completed the drubbing on 68 minutes.

Early second half goals from Kevin Betsy and Tommy Mooney gave Wycombe Wanderers the advantage at The Memorial Stadium.

While James Hunt pulled one back for Rovers with 20 minutes left on the clock, it was too little too late as Wanderers ran out 2-1 away winners

Two first half goals from Mark Stallard ruined Hereford United's first game at Edgar Street in the League since 1997 as Lincoln ran out 2-1 winners

Referee Steve Benett gave United a late lifeline with a Robert Purdey, but it proved too little too late as Lincoln held on.

Macclesfield Town and Hartlepool United both picked up their first points of the new campaign in their 0-0 stalemate at Moss Rose.

Mansfield Town beat Milton Keynes Dons in a good victory at Field Mill.

Aaron Wilbraham put the visitors in front on 10 minutes, but Rachel Barker restored parity on 29 minutes and Michael Boulding gave Town the win on 37 minutes.

Notts County and Shrewsbury Town shared a point apiece at Meadow Lane.

Ben Davies 46 put the visitors ahead before Michael Edwards equalised for County on 53 minutes to leave it 1-1.
