Pools receive Duckworth boost

Hartlepool have been boosted by the news that defender Michael Duckworth's leg injury is not as serious as first feared.

The 21-year-old was forced off in the early stages of Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Northampton on his return to the side following his recovery from hernia surgery. It was initially feared that Duckworth could have broken his leg but scans have since confirmed that there is no fracture. Physio Ian Gallagher told the club's official website: "The scan came back clear on Monday so we're treating it as a soft tissue injury now. "He's shown massive improvement today (Tuesday) when he's reported in for training so we'll just take it day by day for now and see how it progresses."
