Parkin has been locked in talks with the Robins paymasters for some time and has now concurred on the terms of a new deal.
The sticking point in negotiations is understood to have been the length of the contract but the 22-year-old is ready to pen an extension until June 2006.
The former Chelsea trainee is happy to have finally settled on a fresh deal and is aiming to lift Swindon out of the Second Division.
"There was never any doubt about me signing, it was just a case of agreeing the right personal terms," Parkin told the Evening Advertiser.
"There were a few things that needed ironing out, mainly the length of the contract, but I'm pleased with the new terms.
"I'm very happy at Swindon and with the new deal.
"One day I want to be playing First Division football and I can't think of a better place to do that than here and I see no reason why that can't happen."
